Citizen Safety: Do's & Don'ts During Heavy Inflow

Stay Informed via Official Bulletins: Monitor FMISC updates and Lucknow District Administration advisories. Avoid unverified social media rumors.
Drive Cautiously on Lowland Roads: Near Bani (Sai River), take caution on village link roads. Follow UP Traffic Police advisories on NH-27.
Do NOT Step into Swollen River Water: Stay clear of riverfront steps, submerged ghats, and storm culverts. Currents are rapid and deceptively strong.
Do NOT Drive Across Submerged Causeways: Never attempt to drive through waterlogged rural culverts even if the water appears shallow.

Hydrological Terms Explained Simply
Danger Level (खतरे का निशान): The mark where river water starts spilling out of its natural channel onto surrounding agricultural fields or streets.
Warning Level (चेतावनी स्तर): Usually 1 metre below Danger Level. Alert status where engineers and patrol teams begin 24x7 monitoring.
Cusec (क्यूसेक): Flow measurement: 1 Cusec = 1 cubic foot of water passing per second (approx. 28.3 litres every single second).
Barrage Release (बैराज डिस्चार्ज): Opening gates of Gomti Barrage to release incoming flood water downstream towards Sultanpur and prevent water from ponding in Lucknow city.
